Tax return can be filed either through mailing or through E-filing. E-filing is the preferred choice for majority of people because it is easier and more convenient for both you and the IRS and also the refund is processed much faster.

If you filed a paper return, then the IRS usually sends you a check or direct deposit for your refund in six to eight weeks. For E-filing, your refund usually processes within two to three weeks.
